Irish Crochet Vest

Hook: 4.0 mm
Yarn: Jaeger Aqua (6 x 50g skeins)
Colour: Ruby (316)

I wanted a sleeveless top that could be worn over the top of a blouse for work without overheating.
I started with 10 Irish crochet motifs with 7 petals - so that I could position them with 1 petal near the neck and 2 petals at the ‘bottom’.
The mesh was made from a shamrock patterned mesh. The bottom edge of the top was edged with double-crochet and shamrocks.

Crochet flower pillows

I will try to show you how I crochet these squares together. You’ll find pattern for the squares .Please note that I crochet a 7th round with white on every square. I crochet 1 sc in every sc on previous round and 3 sc in the corner sc on prev. round.
Round 8 will also be in white. On this round I make ch st loops with sc in between. In this round I crochet the squares together.
See the arrows in the photo above? The arrows points to where i make sc stitches. If your eyes are good you will see that it is 1 (in the corners), 2 or three st inbetween the sc stitches.
Start at the star  * 1 sc, ch 3, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 3 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 2 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 2 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 3 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3*     repeat * – * 3 more times. Finish with sl st in first sc.
When you’re crocheting the squares togehter you will only finish one (the first) square like this. The rest of the squares will be crocheted together in the ch loops. Usually in the 2nd of the three ch st.

Crochet Snowflake

These crocheted Snowflakes are super-easy to make, and super-addictive. They are worked up in three quick rounds, and you can vary the size of them depending on which hook size you choose. In the above photo, I used  a DK weight pure wool yarn with four different hook sizes (2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm). The smallest star-like flakes you can see on the bottom row were made by only working the first two rounds of the pattern.

Snowflake Monday

To me, this flake is somewhat reminiscent of Irish crochet. Notice how the largest chain spaces seem to form hearts.

You may do whatever you'd like with snowflakes you make from this pattern, but you may not sell the pattern. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
