I will try to show you how I crochet these squares together. You’ll find pattern for the squares .Please note that I crochet a 7th round with white on every square. I crochet 1 sc in every sc on previous round and 3 sc in the corner sc on prev. round.
Round 8 will also be in white. On this round I make ch st loops with sc in between. In this round I crochet the squares together.
See the arrows in the photo above? The arrows points to where i make sc stitches. If your eyes are good you will see that it is 1 (in the corners), 2 or three st inbetween the sc stitches.
Start at the star * 1 sc, ch 3, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 3 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 2 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 2 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3, skip 3 st, 1 sc in next st, ch 3* repeat * – * 3 more times. Finish with sl st in first sc.
When you’re crocheting the squares togehter you will only finish one (the first) square like this. The rest of the squares will be crocheted together in the ch loops. Usually in the 2nd of the three ch st.
Start in a corner with a sc.
The ch st loop in the corner you crochet like this: ch 1, ch 1 through corner loop on another square, ch 1.

Next ch st loop goes like this: ch 1, ch 1 through loop on another square, ch 1
Continue up the side as in the pattern, crocheting together with another square in all the ch st loops.
In corners like this you will ch 1, ch 1 through corner loop on square on the right, ch 1 through corner loop on the square above.
Continue all around.
I made a row of dc around the square to finish.
